Dorset golf breaks, why the Jurassic Coast is underrated

Dorset does not have the name recognition of Cornwall or Devon in golf circles, and that is exactly why it is worth a look. Fewer crowds, easier logistics, and three courses that hold their own against bigger reputations.

Isle of Purbeck

Heathland golf with sea views over Studland Bay, which is a combination you do not get often. The course rewards accuracy over length, making it a fair test for a group with a wide handicap range.

Came Down

A downland course near Dorchester with genuine elevation and views out to the coast on a clear day. Understated, well maintained, and rarely crowded, which counts for a lot on a short trip where you do not want to wait on every tee.

Broadstone

Closer to Poole, Broadstone is a heathland course with a strong reputation among people who actually live in the area, which is usually a better sign than a ranking list. Good final round for a trip that started further along the coast.

Best suited to a shorter trip

Dorset's compact geography means less time in the car between rounds, which makes it the strongest pick on this list for a two night trip rather than a full week away.
